Welcome to Durango Community Tennis Association

The big news for 2018 is 4 new public, lighted courts at Fort Lewis College- opening in June.   DCTA contributed $10,000.00 to the construction of these new courts.

The Durango Community Tennis Association is a not for profit organization for local tennis players whose mission is to promote tennis as a lifetime sport by providing affordable recreational, educational and social programs for persons of all ages and abilities.  Check the Facilities page for court locations, tennis pros, clinics and other services. DCTA needs volunteers to revive mixers and tournaments.

DCTA “Reorganizational and Revitalization” Meeting – June 6th 2018

In order for DCTA to continue to serve the area’s tennis community, we need your help. The time has come to revitalize and reorganize DCTA. To do this, we are looking for new board members, officers and members. The timing couldn’t be better: We have four new courts at FLC.  Though participation in competitive tournaments has waned over the last several years, there continues to be a very large and enthusiastic base of tennis players throughout the area.  There are also several local tennis pros which are very active in providing clinics and lessons.  It is the DCTA’s  desire to best support all tennis activities in the area and accommodate the needs of the tennis playing public in general.
DCTA will host a meeting at the Durango Rec Center (Windom Room) on June 6, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The purpose is to discuss the reorganization and revitalization of DCTA and to determine how the DCTA can best utilized to support the tennis playing public of Durango and La Plata County.  Complimentary snacks will be served.  Anyone who has an interest in tennis in Durango and La Plata County is encouraged to attend.

Your membership is appreciated and is $20 per year. Membership and donations fund city wide court maintenance, periodic email updates and hopefully mixers and tournaments.

In 2017 DCTA and the HS Booster club purchased new windscreens for the HS courts at a cost of approximately $4000.00. DCTA and tennis team volunteers installed the windscreens.

DCTA also provides a porta potty for the HS courts, benches for all the city courts, replaces nets and cleans the courts. We promote drop-in tennis and appreciate your ideas on how we might expand our support of tennis.
